A three-year starter at tailback and defensive back at Bryan Station High School here in Lexington, KY, Littleton Ward was a 2nd Team All-State player in 1991, and a 1st Team All-State selection by the Courier-Journal and the Herald-Leader in 1992 as a defensive back. At Bryan Station, Littleton also tallied 25 touchdowns as a running back and kick returner in his three-year career with the Defenders. The speedster also scored on two interceptions for touchdowns as a defensive back, earning 1991 Thoroughbred MVP Honors as a sophomore in the process. Littleton was voted to Tom Lemming’s Prep Football All-Southeast Team in 1992, as well as Blue-Chip Illustrated All-Southeast Team. Earning Honorable Mention All-America accolades as a defensive back in high school, Littleton was also a member of the 1993 Kentucky vs. Tennessee High School Football All-Star Game.
A multi-sport athlete for the Defenders, Littleton also excelled in track and field and was a three-time All-State selection (1990-92) in the 4×100-meter relay and the 1600-meter relay. He was voted 1991 2nd Team All-State in the long jump in Kentucky and won a sectional championship in the 200-meter dash in 1992.
Littleton went on to have a successful career at the University of Kentucky, where he started 2-1/2 years at cornerback and was named to the SEC Good Works Team in 1996. Also, Littleton earned 1997 All-Southeastern Conference Academic Honors his senior year with the Cats.
After graduation, Littleton signed a free-agent contract with the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League in 1998. Also in 1998, he signed a free-agent contract with New Jersey Red Dogs of the Arena 1 Football League after running a blistering 4.38-second 40-yard dash for the scouts.
Littleton and Taleesa Chandler Ward have been married for 19 years. They are the proud parents of three beautiful children and proud grandparents to Cayson Boyd, who affectionately refers to Littleton as “Pops.” Their three beautiful Ward kids are Kayla (29), Littleton (26), and Elijah (16). Littleton is currently the principal at Bourbon County Middle School in Paris, KY, where he is leading young people and teachers daily. His family enjoys vacationing at different sites every summer, going to movies, shopping, and serving the soon-coming Messiah within his Kingdom. He is the youngest child of 10 siblings. Littleton’s family is his foundation, and he is blessed to be a son of Deacon Bethel Harry Ward and the late Elect Lady Lucille Moore Ward.
