Shelvin Mack

Lexington, Kentucky native Shelvin Mack graduated from Bryan Station High School, where he made All-City First Team three consecutive years.  In his senior year, he collected All-State honors, leading the Defenders to a 30-3 record and a starting position on the Kentucky vs. Indiana All-Star Team.  Mack made the high school team as a seventh grader and made the Bryan Station varsity team as eighth grader.  He became a four-year starter at point guard for the Defenders.

Mack attended Butler University in Indianapolis.  During his time with the Butler Bulldogs basketball team, he led them to two consecutive Horizon Conference Championships and two Final Four National Championship appearances. Shelvin was named NCAA All-Tourney and All-Region two times (consecutively).  Mack is ranked one of the top 50 March Madness Players of all time.

In the 2008-2009 season, Mack was named to the Horizon League All-Newcomer team and the Horizon League All-Tournament team.  During his sophomore year, Mack was named All-Horizon First Team, NABC All-District 12 First Team, Horizon League All-Tournament Team, and West Regional All-Tournament Team.

His junior season at Butler, Mack made the All-Horizon League Second Team and the NABC All-District 12 Second Team.  In 2009, Mack made the FIBA Under-19 World Championship team, helping to lead Team USA to the gold medal.

Mack spent eight years as a point guard in the NBA. In 2011, he was drafted to the Washington Wizards, where he completed his rookie year. His second year, Mack played for a total of three teams, including the Wizards and Philadelphia 76ers while finishing out the season with the Atlanta Hawks. He remained with the Hawks for the next two seasons. In the 2015-16 season he was traded to the Utah Jazz, where he averaged his career high in points and assists (12.7 PPG & 5.7 APG). Mack played two seasons with the Jazz before he was traded to the Orlando Magic during the 2017-18 season. The 2018-19 season was his last season in the NBA. During that season he played for Charlotte Hornets and Memphis Grizzlies. 

Mack spent the next two years playing overseas for Olimpia Milano in Italy and Panathinaikos in Greece. 

In December 2021, Mack joined CBS Sports as an analyst. He called the 2022 March Madness and Final Four games in New Orleans as a part of the CBS Television Network’s March Madness team.

 Mack resides in Atlanta, GA, with his wife, Candyce, and their three children.
