ATHLETE – FOOTBALL

J.T. Haskins began his football journey in the Lexington Parks & Recreation League at Martin Luther King Park, later continuing as a dual-sport athlete in football and basketball at Winburn Middle School (1993–1996).

A proud alumnus of Bryan Station High School (Class of 2000), J.T. excelled in football and track & field. He earned a starting quarterback role midway through his freshman year while also dominating as a standout defensive back. Over his high school career, he recorded 15 interceptions, returning 5 for touchdowns, including a school-record 100-yard return against Boone County. Offensively, during his senior season, he rushed for 1,610 yards and 22 touchdowns, and threw for 1,092 yards and 13 touchdowns, leading Bryan Station to the 1999 4A State Runner-Up finish. In track, he was part of the KHSAA 3A Track and Field State Champion 4×100 Relay Team as a junior.

J.T.’s high school accolades include the following:

  • 3-Time Lexington Herald-Leader All-City Football Team (1997–1999)
  • 2-Time Louisville Courier-Journal First-Team All-State Defensive Back (1998, 1999)
  • Lexington Herald-Leader Class of the Commonwealth (1999)
  • Gridiron Prep Athlete of the Year (1999)
  • Lexington Herald-Leader All-Decade Team (1990s)
  • Participant in the 2000 Kentucky vs. Tennessee High School All-Star Game

Continuing his football career at the University of Louisville (2000–2004), J.T. was a defensive back and special teams’ contributor. Notably, he helped the Cardinals lead the nation in blocked punts during his sophomore season, including a key block against Cincinnati. He wrapped up his college career with over 100 tackles and 5 interceptions.

Professionally, J.T. played for the Lexington Horsemen (2005–2008) in United Indoor Football. His career stats include 161.5 tackles, 11 interceptions, 1,078 kick return yards, and 4 touchdowns. He was selected to the UIF All-Defensive Team (2007) and participated in the UIF All-Star Game.

Following his playing career, J.T. transitioned into coaching at the youth level with Lexington Parks & Recreation Football, Northern Cal Ripken Baseball, South West Pony Baseball, and the Dixie Pro Basketball League. He began his high school coaching career at Lafayette High School and later returned to Bryan Station, where he served as a coach for both football and track. In 2024, J.T. was the Associate Head Coach of the Bryan Station football team, helping lead the Defenders back to the KHSAA 6A State Championship, finishing the season as State Runner-Up. That same year, he was also selected to coach in the National High School All-American Game in San Antonio, TX.

Today, Coach Haskins serves as the Head Football Coach at Bryan Station High School, where he continues to pour into young athletes at his alma mater. He also remains active with Football University (FBU) as a defensive backs coach.

J.T. is married to his wife, Hailey Haskins, and together they have three children: Jaidyn, J.T. Jr., and Jordan.
